A federal judge ordered the Bush administration o­n Thursday to halt the National Security Agency's program of domestic eavesdropping, saying it violated the U.S. Constitution. The ruling marked a setback for the Bush administration, which has defended the program as an essential tool in its war o­n terrorism.

Thanks to The New York Times, we now know that the NSA is illegally screening virtually all Internet and email traffic going or coming to or going from the U.S. If that’s not enough, the USA PATRIOT Act requires ISPs to hand over customer information, e-mail records, browsing records, etc., without a warrant.
